The National Telecommunications and Information Administration is looking for a contractor to build content management and social networking Web sites in its effort to become more open and transparent.

Citing demands called for by the White House’s Open Government Directive, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration is looking for a contractor to build content management and social networking Web sites, according to solicitation on the Federal Business Opportunities Web site.

White House officials' push to make the federal government more transparent, participatory and collaborative is the main driver behind the solicitation request, according to the announcement, dated Feb. 25.

Under the project, the winning contractor will assist the organization with developing new media capabilities, developing Web content management capabilities using Drupal, and transferring existing Web content into new design, according to the announcement.

The contractor will also have several Web site maintenance responsibilities including making new Web postings, developing new Web sites and updating existing Web pages.

“The NTIA public Web site is a critical platform for disseminating agency information to the widest possible audience,” the solicitation states. “The purpose of this solicitation is to provide contractor Web developer support services to meet the rapidly increasing demand for publishing information and enabling collaboration on the NTIA Web sites.”

Responses to the solicitation are due by March 19.
