As agencies transform their paper-based processes and documents to online, Omnipage Ultimate can help convert paper, PDF documents and digital camera images into files in a variety of formats that users can edit, search and share.
And Nuance Communications, which is probably best known for its work in speech recognition, also has worked a text-to-speech feature incorporated into the latest version of the software.
With a 25 percent increase in character accuracy for conversion of digital camera images, OmniPage Ultimate converts content into nearly any file type, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2007, PDF, HTML, Corel WordPerfect or MP3 audio as well as the ePub format used with popular eBook readers. It also supports batch processing and can collect data from PDF or paper forms and export it to a spreadsheet or database.
And now, users can have Ultimate read documents back to them in a natural-sounding human voice, whether they’re in the office or at home, or while on the go; it works with any mobile device that supports MP3 files.
OmniPage Ultimate connects to a variety of cloud storage and online document websites, such as Microsoft SharePoint and DMS, and features new support for Open Text Hummingbird Connector and Autonomy-Interwoven iManage Connector.
This latest version also has a new tablet-like interface called LaunchPad that loads OmniPad in under one second and lets users quickly convert any kind of document and send it to any destination by clicking on tiled action buttons.
The DocuDirect feature supports document scanning, conversion and routing for small workgroups that share a scanning device. It can be installed on a network server or shared computer that is connected to a scanner and then automatically send converted files to a predefined destination or multiple destinations, including mobile devices.
Finally, language should no longer be a barrier to OCR. OmniPage Ultimate includes the recognition of languages based on the Latin, Greek and Cyrillic alphabets as well as Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages.
OmniPage Ultimate is $199 for upgrades from previous OmniPage version and $499 for new purchases with volume discounts available through the Nuance Open License Program.
