Projectors made by Christie Digital Systems USA are some of the most advanced in the world, with many models specifically designed for government simulations and mission-critical displays.

Among the most advanced projectors in the Christie lineup are the Mirage projectors, which are made for displaying both 2D and 3D images that can blur the lines between computer-generated landscapes and reality. Christie has announced that the Mirage series is expanding with the launch of the Mirage WQ-L, an LED-based 1-chip DLP projection system.

In addition to displaying color-accurate images, the WQ-L is powered by a light engine that makes the unit maintenance free. The lower temperature of the light bulb means that there is no need for filters or an extensive cooling system. Christie has rated the WQ-L's LED bulb life at 60,000 hours, which would give it more than 6.5 years' worth of projection time.

The WQ-L also comes with Christie ArrayLOC color management software for synchronized color and brightness management, which reduces calibration requirements. In addition, the Mirage WQ-L uses the Christie KoRE electronics and firmware platform, which provides input capability and control flexibility designed to work with most advanced visualizations systems.
 
The Christie Mirage WQ-L weighs 88 pounds without the lens, so it's designed to be installed in a fixed location. The price varies because of installation costs, but the WQ-L is available now, and could be good for for agencies with an application that could make use of this new 3D projection unit.
