Brother International introduced two workgroup printers with enterprise-level security and built-in workflow management tools. The HL-L9200CDWT laser printer and MFC-L9550CDW laser all-in-one are designed to meet the higher-volume, color printing demands of mid-sized workgroups, the company said in its announcement.
Enterprise-level security helps administer color print controls and other machine functions, as well as provide user authentication. Both models feature the Brother Solutions Interface, which allows developers to access the machine’s internal Web services to create customized workflow solutions.
Among the built-in services are:
The PaperCut print cost allocation tool that allows agencies to save paper and reduce costs through rules-based printing.
Brother Control Center interface for the MFC-L9550CDW, lets compliance-driven organizations send secure e-mails quickly and easily without disrupting workflow, using Protected Trust encrypted email services.
The Web Connect Interface in these machines allows organizations to print from cloud services. The MFC-L9550CDW also scans to the cloud as well as to SharePoint, email servers and network folders.
The models also include enterprise-level security features: Active Directory (using LDAP) helps provide easy network user authentication, while Secure Function Lock limits accessibility to machine functions on a per user or group basis, for up to 100 users, to help prevent the unauthorized transfer of sensitive information.
The MFC-L9550CDW adds a built-in NFC card reader for walk-up authorization to release print jobs, and to access other machine functions using a compatible NFC card or badge.
“These new machines present an outstanding opportunity to move away from the underutilized floor units that addressed the paper-intensive document production needs of the past,” said Steve Feldstein, Brother director of marketing for SMB laser products. “By deploying multiple devices in closer proximity to end users, businesses can increase accessibility to help boost productivity in today’s printing environment,” he added.
