Officials at the Office of Personnel Management are calling the first virtual IT job fair a success, and they are not alone.
Site visitors and the National Academy of Public Administration also voiced their approval of the event, cosponsored by OPM and the CIO Council April 22 through April 26.
OPM received 20,000 applications for about 270 job openings, and the welcome page received 1.8 million hits during the five-day online hiring effort.
Agency officials said lists of qualified applicants would be sent to agencies this week, and the State Department has already scheduled an interview day for May 11.
The job fair went smoothly despite some system hiccups. OPM added four servers Monday and Tuesday night after traffic from a glut of job seekers bogged down the system.
