VA taps HP for $784m systems support deal

The Veterans Affairs Department has awarded Hewlett-Packard Co. a $784 million contract for engineering support services and maintenance of the VistA Health Information Systems.

Under the 10-year contract, HP will support systems that deliver health care data across 21 networks to VA clinicians. VistA provides automation and record keeping for almost every clinic and health administrative office in VA through 101 integrated software modules, which run from databases at medical and computing centers.'
