The General Services Administration last month signed up a third vendor to the SmartBuy program.
Agencies now can buy networking infrastructure software from Novell Inc. under the enterprise software license program.
Novell put together a series of special software offerings and service levels, including bundles for infrastructure, Linux servers and desktop systems, Web services and, eventually, secure identity management, company officials said in a release.
Novell said the bundles will give federal buyers flexibility in deployment and pricing as well as ease contract negotiations and licensing.
The infrastructure bundle will include network operating systems and collaboration and management tools. Novell also will offer three Linux bundles for the desktop, a so-called server starter pack for small IT environments and a server for larger networks.
The Web services package will provide software for agencies to connect legacy applications, Novell officials said.
