has nominated Molly O'Neill
to serve as the Environmental Protection Agency's assistant administrator for the Office of Environmental Information, replacing Kim Nelson, who left the agency late last year.
O'Neill currently is state director for the Environmental Council of States' National Environmental Information Exchange Network, an initiative between EPA and state governmental agencies to share and exchange data over the Internet.Gina Pearson
starts today as director of the Energy Information Administration's National Energy Information Center. She had been Web manager of the Agriculture Department's Economic Research Service.
The Defense Department has named Shay Assad
, a Marine Corps assistant deputy commandant, as the new director of Defense procurement and acquisition policy.
He replaces Deidre Lee
, who left the DOD post in August 2005. Lee starts next month as the acting deputy director of operations for the Federal Emergency Management Agency.Domenico Cipicchio
had been filling in as acting director of Defense procurement.
Assad previously served as assistant deputy commandant for installations and logistics for the Marines.
President Bush has named Thomas McNamara
to be program manager of the Information Sharing Environment, a critical component of the Office of the National Director of Intelligence.
McNamara succeeds John Russack
, the initial appointee who created the program. Russack resigned in January.
McNamara, a career diplomat, served from 1988 to 1997 as ambassador to Colombia and returned to work at the National Security Council as special assistant to the president for national security affairs and senior director for international programs and African affairs.Charles 'Steve' Dawson
