ActivIdentity earns FIPS certs

ActivIdentity Inc. of Fremont, Calif., said a pair of its ActivIdentity smart-card solutions had achieved Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 Level 2 certification, while its ActivIdentity ActivClient API received FIPS-201 certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. FIPS-201 is required for compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12. Agencies can use ActivClient to deploy middleware for Personal Identity Verification 2 cards while supporting existing smart cards, officials said.
