NetIQ moves to Version 6

EARLY WARNING: Security Manager sends alerts from a centralized console.

NetIQ has released Version 6 of its Security Manager. The security information and event management software keeps tabs on events reported by a wide range of network and client security products, such as firewalls, antivirus software and intrusion-detection systems. Through a centralized console, it can alert users of potentially malicious events, such as SQL injection or buffer overflow attacks.

The updated version includes a new way to archive log files so space is saved and the legal integrity of the files is maintained. It also features real-time alerts and uses fewer resources than native Windows auditing, said Chris Pick, vice president of marketing at NetIQ.
