Global Knowledge Training sponsored a salary survey in the fourth quarter of 2006. A total of 1,607 information technology professionals responded to the survey. Among other results, the survey showed that civilian IT professionals working for the federal government garnered the highest salary, $82,882. The lowest salary for IT professionals was in public and private schools.
