One Force app lets first responders collaborate

The first responders to a disaster or emergency need real-time coordination of data to help them do their jobs.
To fill that need, Raytheon has released its One Force mobile collaboration app. This is actually a suite of collaboration tools for groups of users on smart phones and other mobile devices, and it includes voice communications, maps, drawing tools, real-time GPS tracking, image sharing and streaming video.
"Developed and tested in Southern California, One Force received input during the product development cycle from local first responders to create a tool that would meet their unique needs in the field," Dan De Sollar, director of the Public Safety Regional Technology Center for Raytheon's Network Centric Systems business, said in a release. "Recognizing that each department and region will have its own specific requirements, One Force was designed to allow for user customization," he added.
The suite takes the advanced capabilities found in most modern mobile devices and focuses them on emergency response. "For most first responders, the personal cell phone they carry has significantly more communications capabilities than their traditional police radio," said TJ Kennedy, director of Public Safety and Security for Raytheon's NCS business. "However, a civilian cell phone is not optimized for public safety use. The One Force application brings together the best of both worlds: access to smart-phone technology and the customizable features that first responders need to get their jobs done."
One Force is available for Apple, Android and Windows devices and is capable of working across any data network connection – 2G, 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi.
