San Antonio jumps on Accela civic management platform

Already named a top connected city, San Antonio announced that it now will be using the Accela Civic Platform to further streamline city services, boost agency productivity from the field and provide a variety of online services to citizens through mobile devices.

The civic management platform, which includes application programming interfaces and mobile apps, automates government processes for land management, licensing, asset management and public health and safety. Utilizing an open architecture and a centralized database, the Civic Platform allows event, transaction and contact activity to be shared across departments to improve communication between office and field workers, citizens, businesses and other key stakeholders, the company said.

Under the $14 million contract, Accela will help San Antonio to provide better customer service and at the same time offer contractors, building inspectors and code enforcement officers mobile access that will speed up processes and response time.

In addition, the platform includes the Construct API, which will allow San Antonio to extend its new capabilities to additional government functions and choose from the rapidly growing list of third-party solutions that integrate with the Civic Platform, Accela said.

“Accela’s civic technology solutions meet our needs today and will scale with us into the future, providing the city the technology foundation needed to enhance the way we work and serve our community,” said Rod Sanchez, the city’s director of development services.
