Vinca OffSite Archive for NetWare can run on a standalone or standby server

Novell NetWare users can set up Vinca Corp.’s OffSite Archive for NetWare either
on a standalone server or in conjunction with a primary standby server pair.

OffSite Archive uses Vinca’s SnapShotServer technology, which makes snapshot
duplicates of the data stored on the primary server.

The data archiving does not affect the primary server’s performance, Vinca
officials said.

After the initial synchronization of servers, OffSite Archive for NetWare buffers all
changed data but sends it over a WAN to a remote recovery site only after the changes
reach a predetermined threshold.

Vinca officials are promoting the $3,999 remote data vault as an alternative to
conventional methods of making a tape backup and trucking it periodically to a remote
site. Vinca of Orem, Utah, began selling OffSite Archive for NetWare last year.
