HP rolls out a 32-ppm LaserJet printer, three other new printers and a Mopier

In its largest-ever printer rollout, Hewlett-Packard Co. has released two new color
laser printers and one color ink-jet printer, plus a monochrome LaserJet and a Mopier.

The $2,499 HP Color LaserJet 4500, which replaces the Color LaserJet 5, can print four
color pages per minute and 16 ppm in monochrome. It has a 133-MHz processor and HP’s
JetDirect 600N internal print server to work with leading network operating systems.

The $5,999 HP Color LaserJet 8500 also has a 133-MHz processor. Its paper capacity is
3,100 sheets for departmental printing. It can turn out 6 ppm in color and 24 ppm in
monochrome on stock up to 11 by 17 inches. It has an AutoCAD driver and color management
capability.

The small-workgroup HP 2500C/CM Professional Series ink-jet starts at $1,249 and
includes HP’s modular ink delivery system, which company officials claim increases
print speed and lowers printing costs. It can print up to 7 ppm in color and 9 ppm in
monochrome. It uses HP’s PhotoRET II color-layering technology and handles paper as
large as 13 inches by 19 inches or other media.

HP officials said the $2,550, 166-MHz HP LaserJet 8100 is the fastest LaserJet ever
made because it can print as fast as 32 ppm and handle up to 150,000 pages per month.

LaserJet 8100 users can proofread the first set of a multiset document before the
printer turns out any additional copies.

The $14,498, 32-ppm HP Mopier 320 functions as a printer as well as a photocopier. It
has walk-up and network copying capabilities. The digital imaging module has dual scan
heads.

Agencies can buy the Hewlett-Packard printers from many resellers and through General
Services Administration Information Technology Schedule contracts.
