SystemWorks gets Quarterdeck utilities

Symantec Corp.'s $69.95 Norton SystemWorks utilities suite now includes CrashGuard 4.0 and CleanSweep 4.5, following the Cupertino, Calif., company's 1998 acquisition of Quarterdeck Corp.

The suite also has Norton AntiVirus 5.0, Norton Utilities 3.0 and a six-month subscription to Norton Web Services. CleanSweep 4.5 includes Internet Sweep, which cleans out folders containing cookies, plug-ins and cache files. It can track files installed over the Internet, such as ActiveX controls.

Norton CrashGuard 4.0 claims to intercept application, browser and system crashes, protecting against data loss.

SystemWorks requires at least a 66-MHz 486 system running Windows 9x, with 16M of RAM and 105M of free storage.
