Xybernaut Corp.'s $4,995 Mobile Assistant IV, a voice-activated wearable PC, weighs about 2 pounds and has a 233-MHz Pentium MMX processor, as much as 128M of RAM and a hard drive as large as 4.3G.

The head-mounted display has a 640- by 480-pixel color VGA monitor with an integrated noise-canceling microphone and earphone. Batteries are hot-swappable.

Microsoft Windows 98 comes preinstalled; Windows NT Workstation 4.0 and Santa Cruz Operation Inc. Unix are optional. The Army, Navy and Marine Corps use Xybernaut products, according to officials of the Fairfax, Va., company.

PerfectDisk 2000 defrags automatically

PerfectDisk 2000 from Raxco Software Inc. of Rockville, Md., controls defragmentation of any system disk under Microsoft Windows 9x or Windows NT 4.0, including master file tables, paging files and directories.

The $49 software moves the most recently used files to locations where users can access them faster.

Epson America Inc.'s $299 Stylus Photo 750, a six-color ink-jet printer, turns out a 4- by 6-inch photo in about a minute.

Maximum resolution for the Stylus Photo 750 and for its big brother, the $449 Stylus Color 900/900N, is 1,440 by 720 dots per inch in monochrome.

The Stylus Color 900/900N prints 12 monochrome pages per minute and 10 color pages per minute at a duty cycle of 5,000 pages per month.
