With add-on, you can convert QMS printer into copier-scanner

The QMS SC-200 digital copier and scanner add-on from QMS Inc. of Mobile, Ala., attaches to a QMS Magicolor printer's parallel port, turning it into a color copier and scanner.

Acting as a digital copier, the QMS SC-200 provides front-panel selections for copy count, contrast adjustments and zoom settings. After copying, the QMS Magicolor printer prints up to four full-color pages per minute or 16 ppm in black and white.

Acting as a desktop color scanner, the SC-200 connects to a host PC through a supplied parallel cable. It scans at up to 600 dots per inch. Editing software is included.

The add-on accepts paper up to legal size and can reduce or enlarge documents from 25 percent to 400 percent. A 30-sheet automatic feeder is $599.

SC-200 is compatible with the QMS Magicolor 2, Magicolor 2 DeskLaser and Magicolor 330 laser printers. Renaldi Pisani of Westwood Computer Corp., an Annandale, Va., QMS reseller, said government buyers pay about 12 percent less than the add-on's $399 retail price.
