CaptureEze captures screen images, but not at a high resolution

Don't adjust your glasses: CaptureEze Pro fails to preserve image quality when its screen resolution is increased. The app can convert graphic files between formats.

If you frequently capture screen images to put in training manuals or presentations or to troubleshoot network errors, you already know that pressing the Print Scrn key captures the screen and puts it onto the Microsoft Windows clipboard. From there, you can paste it into an application or e-mail. But the image will not be high enough in resolution for printing.

Utility for capturing screen images

Price: $40

+ ' Basic image management tools

' ' Cannot capture at high enough resolution for printing

' ' Lower quality at increased resolution

Real-life requirements:

Windows 9x or NT 4.0, Pentium processor, 32M of RAM and 15M of storage

CaptureEze Pro from Application Techniques Inc. captures the screen, just as Print Scrn does, and at the same fidelity.

When I chose the Preserve Quality Using Smart Sizing option to increase resolution, the results blurred as shown in the screen shot, which I captured with another application.

CaptureEze Pro does have some handy features found in better, less expensive image apps and shareware. It can convert graphic files between formats such as Joint Photographic Experts Group, bitmap and TIFF.

The application itself is straightforward and easy to use.

CaptureEze also creates handy catalogs of image libraries. But the name of the utility is not CatalogEze.

When it comes to capturing a high-resolution image for a printer, CaptureEze does no better than Print Scrn'and that capability comes with Windows for free.
