IRS gets software Web store

IRS employees now have their own Web site for buying and downloading the most-used Microsoft Corp. software from online software reseller Beyond.com of Sunnyvale, Calif.

Microsoft products available through the IRS-only site include BackOffice Server, Exchange Server, FrontPage 98, Office Professional 97, Project 98, Publisher 98, Site Server Commerce Edition, Systems Management Server, Visual InterDev Professional 6.0, Windows NT Workstation 4.0 and Windows Terminal Server.

The site, at www.gov.beyond.com/irs.htm, lists full versions of all products except for NT Workstation and FrontPage 98.

Prices, based on a 65-month IRS contract, range from $22 for FrontPage 98 to $3,545 for a three-year upgrade license for SQL Server Enterprise Edition.
