Horn's next focus is security

Rep. Steve Horn last week said ensuring computer security will be a long journey, but Congress must help by making sure agencies get the computing power they need.

The California Republican discussed information technology and financial management issues last week at a forum in Washington sponsored by American Management Systems Inc. of Fairfax, Va. He fielded questions from federal agency managers attending the forum.

'I am interested in you because you are in the firing line. We are just reviewing what you do,' said Horn, chairman of the House Government Reform Subcommittee on Government Management, Information and Technology. Horn, who is also the chairman of the House Task Force on the Year 2000 Problem, said he will focus next on computer security.
