Systems management vendor BMC Software Inc. is packaging installation, consulting and training services for its software products, which serve as the plumbing behind information technology systems, said J.A. 'Chip' Nemesi, vice president of professional services.

The Houston company makes about 500 products for process automation and management of application services, data recovery and storage.

Installation of BMC software has been left up to customers until now, Nemesi said.

But because software environments are getting much more complex, 'we're finding that many customers like our products but are not using them right or they're not using a high percentage of their value,' he said.

Choice of three

BMC Software Professional Services will offer three predefined packages: FastTrack for preinstallation assessment of enterprise software needs; SureStart installation; and a one- to two-week HealthCheck of existing applications.

Through authorized service providers, the company also will offer custom consulting, on-site training and education. Prices depend on the software and number of servers.
