PTO creates Web app for patent orders

The Patent and Trademark Office recently upgraded its Revenue Accounting and Management System to allow financial transactions over the Internet.

In addition, Software Performance Systems Inc. of Arlington, Va., deployed a Web-based file ordering application for the patent office.

The Patent Application Location and Monitoring Migration File Ordering System lets PTO employees and the public access copies of patent case files, Software Performance Systems officials said.

The PTO site has averaged 12,000 transactions daily since it came online in early February, officials with the patent office said.
