Self is appointed FTS deputy

The General Services Administration's Federal Technology Service is shifting some personnel to fill holes that will be created when Dennis J. Fischer steps down this month as commissioner.

Charles A. Self, who has been serving as assistant commissioner for information technology integration, has been named deputy commissioner, replacing Sandra Bates, who GSA last month named as Fischer's successor [GCN, March 20, Page 58].

Robert Suda, FTS' chief financial officer, will replace Self.

Fischer leaves government this month for a post with Visa International Corp. of San Francisco.
