Lucent's ATM uplink modules for Cajun switches provide 1.2-Gbps bandwidth

Lucent Technologies Inc. has built a pair of asynchronous transfer mode uplink modules for its Cajun campus switch line.

The Cajun ATM Uplink modules are hot-swappable and fit the Murray Hill, N.J., networking company's Cajun P550 Gigabit Switch and Cajun 880 Routing Switch.

The two-port uplinks, for multimode or single-mode fiber, provide LAN connectivity at the OC-12 rate of 622 Mbps per port, for an aggregate bandwidth of 1.2 Gbps. The uplinks map Ethernet priority, maintaining quality of service across multiservice networks.

Two-port uplinks are available now; four-port versions will be ready this summer. A multimode fiber uplink is $17,950; the single-mode version is $20,950.
