Compaq names Ross new federal chief

APRIL 21'Ron Ross, a former National Security Agency employee, is the new president of Compaq Federal LLC. He will report to an inside board of directors chaired by Compaq Computer Corp. president and chief executive officer Michael D. Capellas.

Ross takes over the duties of former Compaq Federal head Gary Newgaard and those of Don Weatherson, who will become Compaq's vice president for North American operations and strategy. Ross comes to Compaq Federal from CACI International Inc. of Arlington, Va., where he was president and chief operating officer. He also spent 15 years as a division president of Computer Sciences Corp., heading defense and intelligence activities.

He is a member of the board of directors of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association. Ross holds a degree in management sciences from the University of Maryland.
