Vendor develops federal systems group

APRIL 26—Computer Associates International Inc. has reorganized, combining its federal product sales group and its service group with the service component of Sterling Software Inc. of Dallas, which Computer Associates purchased last year, and AMSI of Rockville, Md., another recent acquisition. The new unit is called Computer Associates Federal Systems Group, officials said.

The president of the new group is Lt. Gen. Otto Guenther, former Army director of information systems for command, control, communications and computers.

The group has a staff of 1,800, the company reported.

Computer Associates' interest in Sterling Software was sparked by the latter's work with intelligence agencies' modeling and simulation support, officials said.

The federal systems group will handle integrated systems sales as well as product sales. It has 10 GSA schedule contracts.
