NetObjects Fusion 5.0 includes planning guide and posting tool

NetObjects Inc. has added new types of views and growth-planning capability to its Fusion 5.0 Web building software.

The tree view of site pages in NetObjects Fusion 5.0 permits dragging and dropping items to rearrange site navigation.

A Defense Department user, who asked not to be identified, said he and other DOD webmasters use Fusion 4.0 along with Dreamweaver from Macromedia Inc. of San Francisco and HotMetal from SoftQuad Inc. of Toronto.

'We set up internal sites for different DOD organizations to advertise their organizational functions and events on the intranet,' the webmaster said.

The new version, for Microsoft Windows 9x or NT, has an online guide for planning site growth. More than 50 page styles are included; several hundred more are downloadable.

An integrated browser permits viewing without posting the code.

The Redwood City, Calif., company's earlier Fusion versions have Air Force, Army, intelligence and Senate users.

Fusion 5.0, priced at around $234 with a government discount, also comes in a $78 competitive upgrade package. Both include a year of free Web hosting through Concentric Data Systems of Westborough, Mass.
