Crystal Reports 8 creates run-time and Web reports

Seagate Crystal Reports Professional 8, government-priced at $360, has faster reporting performance than earlier versions, the manufacturer says. It now can create run-time reports dynamically within applications.


Seagate Crystal Reports' Excel add-on simplifies report generation with a wizard interface. The latest version can create run-time reports dynamically within applications.


The price includes five concurrent user licenses for free server distribution of reports.

The package from Seagate Software of Scotts Valley, Calif., a subsidiary of Seagate Technology Inc., has add-ons that integrate with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Access.

Crystal Reports also can make on-demand reports into Web pages when used with Lotus Domino, Microsoft Transaction Server and Active Server Pages, Netscape Enterprise Server and Common Gateway Interface servers.

Crystal Reports exports Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language, as well as formats such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Rich Text Format.

Seagate Software sells a developer version of Crystal Reports 8 for integrating reports into Microsoft Windows and Web applications.
