FAR: Negotiate fair orders

An amendment to the Federal Acquisition Regulation directs procurement officials to ensure that orders under multiple-award contracts are fair and competitive.

The revision was published in the Federal Register this month.

It targets multiple-award pacts such as governmentwide acquisition contracts and the General Services Administration schedule contracts.

The revision requires 'all awardees be given a fair opportunity to compete on every task or delivery order placed under multiple-award contracts, unless a specific exception applies.'

The rule is posted on the Web at www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/fedreg/a000425c.html.
