SAIC nabs two NOAA pacts

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has awarded two contracts to Science Applications International Corp.

Under a $32 million, five-year contract, the San Diego company will team with Datastar of Picayune, Miss., to develop and run real-time meteorological measurement and distribution systems. The agency will use the systems warnings, forecasting and research.

Under the second contract, a $9 million three-year agreement, SAIC will support the National Ocean Service's development of detailed navigational charts using the latest mapping technologies.

There are 21,000 nautical square miles of coastal area surrounding the continental United States that require surveying.
