JUNE 15—The IRS today announced the appointment of Bert Concklin as its business systems modernization executive. He will lead the agency's effort to overhaul business practices and technology.

Concklin will report to chief information officer Paul Cosgrave and oversee:

  • Improvements in taxpayer telephone access and call routing

  • Enhancements in electronic services and Web capabilities.

'I look forward to working hand-in-hand with Bert as we build a system to take the nation's tax agency into the new century,' Cosgrave said.

Most recently, he served as the president of the Professional Services Council, a national trade association for professional and technical firms.
