CADPro removes need for an external power supply

GTCO CalComp Inc. is adding a new dimension to digitizer tablets for computer-aided design applications with the release this month of CADPro, which doesn't require a power supply.


The CADPro desktop tablet has a small footprint, 4,000 line-per-inch resolution and a variety of cursor and pen options. It's priced at $299.


Company officials said CADPro is the only graphics tablet that eliminates the need for an external power supply, so there's one less cord to plug in. It offers dual interface support for RS-232 and Universal Serial Bus.

In combination with its small, 12-inch by 11.25-inch footprint'with an active area of 6 inches by 9 inches'CADPro features a noteworthy accuracy of plus or minus 0.008 inch and 4,000 line-per-inch resolution.

Other features include button programming and tablet menuing, a programmable 16-button cursor and the company's TemplateWorks software, a productivity enhancement program for AutoCAD Release 2000 from Autodesk Inc. of Cupertino, Calif.

With TemplateWorks users can program CADPro's 16-button cursor for up to 60 commands, which eliminates the need to search for icons and pull-down menus for command execution and reduces complex sequences into one stroke.
