AUG. 28—Orkand Corp will serve as the prime contractor for a Bureau of Land Management task order for geographic information system support. The bureau makes extensive use of GIS technology to integrate geographically referenced information from different sources.

The $153,329 task order is part of a larger $98 million blanket purchasing agreement. Under the task order, the Falls Church, Va., company will provide applications for mapping and topographical systems, said Barton Greer, a company spokesman. Orkand will partner with five subcontractors on the project.

Other parts of the $98 million BPA will cover information technology-related issues such as records management and database support, Greer said.
