Feds propose one-stop gateway to contract information

AUG. 29'Federal officials have proposed a rule that would establish FedBizOpps.gov, at www.fedbizopps.gov, as a one-stop Internet gateway to information on government contracts of more than $25,000. FedBizOpps was formerly known as the Electronic Posting System.

The Defense Department, General Services Administration and NASA published the rule in the Federal Register on Aug. 21, proposing to amend the Federal Acquisition Regulation. The Office of Management and Budget's Office of Federal Procurement Policy made the proposal.

The site currently provides access to pre-solicitation notices, solicitations and other procurement information for contracts of more than $25,000 in all or part of 18 agencies. Under the rule, other agencies and components would have until Oct. 1, 2001, to complete transition and integration.

GSA will accept comments on the proposal until Oct. 31. Direct comments to GSA, FAR Secretariat (MVRS), 1800 F St. NW, Room 4035, attention Laurie Daurte, Washington, D.C. 20405, or e-mail them to farcase.1997-304@gsa.gov.
