BLM taps Orkand for GIS aid

Orkand Corp. has received a $153,329 task order to provide geographic information systems support to the Bureau of Land Management.

The order was negotiated under a $98 million blanket purchasing agreement that the Falls Church, Va., company has with the bureau, Orkand spokesman Barton Greer said.

Working with five subcontractors, Orkand will help the Interior Department agency develop applications for mapping and other topographical systems, Greer said.

Through the BPA, Orkand also expects to provide other types of systems services, such as records management and database support, Greer said.
