FEMA picks disaster IT team

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has picked Daly Computers to help it launch systems and provide support during disasters for one FEMA region.

The caveat: no disasters, no payments to the Gaithersburg, Md., company.

Under the four-year contract, Daly Computers would provide a rapid response team that would deploy with FEMA's Region 10 disaster operations teams in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. The company team would have to set up FEMA systems at a deployed site within 72 hours of the initial call and provide on-site support until FEMA decamps.

In addition to expenses, FEMA will pay the company $400 to $1,300 per person based on eight-hour shifts.
