New name and mission for GCN owner, Post Newsweek

Post Newsweek Business Information, parent company of Government Computer News, GCN/State & Local and GCN/Shopper, has changed its name to Post Newsweek Tech Media Group.

'We believe this name more accurately describes our mission in serving the information needs of the $100 billion business-to-government technology sector and the exploding business-to-business technology market in the nation's capital,' Post Newsweek president Chuck Lyons said.

Post Newsweek also owns Washington Technology, a publication for systems integrators serving the government, and Washington Techway, a newsmagazine for metropolitan Washington's technology business community.

Scott Lewis, senior vice president of the company's government group and publisher of Washington Technology, is now also the publisher of the GCN publications. Frank Quigley, the former publisher, is the new executive vice president for strategic business development.

Post Newsweek Tech Media Group produces more than 50 conferences and events, the largest being FOSE in Washington.

The company's Web sites include and for government, and for the Washington-area high-tech community.

Post Newsweek has begun an Internet expansion project under a partnership it has with The Washington Post newspaper and Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive, which runs
