Rep. Bliley urges use of e-sigs

Rep. Thomas J. Bliley Jr. (R-Va.), chairman of the House Commerce Committee, marked this month's inauguration of the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act by attending an Oct. 4 Capitol Hill demonstration of authentication technologies.

The bill, which became law this summer, gives legal status to electronic signatures. Bliley said he hopes agencies will start using it 'very quickly, but if they don't then maybe Congress would give them a boost.'
