Need help tackling problems that crop up during capital planning for systems projects? Check out a new guide from the Chief Information Officers Council.

The council's Capital Planning and Information Technology Management Subcommittee issued the how-to booklet this month at the Executive Leadership Conference 2000 in Richmond, Va. It has a resource index and examples of how other organizations solved specific problems.

The biggest task government IT leaders face is to implement capital planning effectively, the preface noted.

'For those who may not yet have recognized the permanence of capital planning and enterprise architecture, that is the most important message to take away,' the guide points out.
