VA inks PC lease with Micron

Micron Electronics Inc. will deploy desktop PCs to Veterans Affairs Department offices under a three-year, $10 million lease.

By mid-November the Nampa, Idaho, company will install an initial 7,000 ClientPro Cf and ClientPro Cn PCs.

The computers will replace hardware for users on the VA Sierra Pacific Network in a region that covers central and northern California, Hawaii and Reno, Nev.

The agreement includes provisions for upgrades.

'This agreement will provide a consistent computing platform across our entire network,' said Jeff Shyshka, the network's chief information officer. 'We expect to see an almost immediate increase in productivity due to the deployment of the same computer systems at every location.'
