GSA inks New Orleans MAA
Federal agencies in and around New Orleans will get their local telecommunications services through the General Services Administration's 19th Metropolitan Area Acquisition contract, awarded last week to BellSouth Corp.
The $75 million MAA contract has a four-year base and four option years. It will supply standard voice, switched data and dedicated transmission services plus new services as they become commercially available. GSA estimated the government will save about 30 percent on its current rates in the New Orleans area, or about $11 million over eight years.
GSA next plans to award an MAA contract for Philadelphia.
