NOV. 7'Patent history is now a few simple clicks away.
The Patent and Trademark Office has expanded its patent Web site to include every U.S. patent ever issued, officials said. More than 6.5 million patents can now be found on the site.
New to the database are nearly two terabytes of full-page images for patents issued from 1790 to 1975, officials said. Those patents are searchable by number and current classification, while those issued since 1975 are searchable by full-text fields that include classification data.
The office also added two more database Web servers and doubled its available Internet bandwidth to accommodate the growing popularity of its site, officials said.
