Navy awards auction contracts

The Naval Supply Systems Command has awarded two five-year contracts for online forward and reverse auction services open to all federal buyers.

EBreviate Inc. of Plano, Texas, a division of Electronic Data Systems Corp., will provide the Web software and will support both types of auctions. The company also will identify suppliers if desired. Its contract is worth $13.9 million. Procuri Inc. of Atlanta will provide an unlimited subscription to its secure auction services at www.procuri.com. The Procuri contract is worth $2.2 million.

NAVSUP officials estimated the auction services will result in procurement savings of 10 percent to 20 percent.
