JAN. 25—The IRS has selected Terence Lutes as its new director of Electronic Tax Administration.

Lutes has been acting in that capacity since last October, when former director Robert Barr left.

As director, one of Lutes' main tasks will be to ensure the smooth transition of e-services into the IRS business practices.

'IRS' electronic services have seen strong growth in recent years and Terry's leadership will help continue that tradition and expand it into new areas,' IRS Commissioner Charles Rossotti said.

Lutes has been with the IRS since 1977. Before joining ETA, he was director of the IRS' Martinsburg Computing Center.
