Katzen urges CIOs to push for FirstGov

Sally Katzen

The former deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget urged career federal employees to forge ahead with the FirstGov portal to online government information.

At an executive forum sponsored by GCN and sister publication Washington Technology in Washington last month, Sally Katzen told agency and industry leaders that FirstGov is an interagency success story.

The General Services Administration was honored at the luncheon for creating the Web portal last year.

'Sell this; tell our worthy successors how important this is' to improving citizen access to government information and services, Katzen said.

G. Martin Wagner, GSA associate administrator for governmentwide policy, said 'not many big, transformational, cross-government projects will get you Sally Katzen beating up on the Defense Department, tin cup in hand' as she did to support FirstGov.
