IRS posts Web page for small businesses

The IRS last week unveiled a new section of its Web site to assist 45 million small-business and self-employed taxpayers.

The new section, at www.irs.gov/smallbiz/index.htm, provides answers to basic questions, a calendar of important deadlines, information for the construction and restaurant industries, and links to tax information for all 50 states.

'America's taxpayers want more clicks than bricks when dealing with the IRS,' said Joe Kehoe, commissioner of the Small Business and Self-Employed Division. 'They want to be able to get service and information when they want it and where they want it. That's the beauty of the new Web site.'

The IRS also plans to add sections with information for individual filers, large corporations and tax-exempt organizations to its Web site.
