Councils adopt a one-for-all stance

The Chief Information Officers Council needs to work closely with the Chief Financial Officers Council and the Procurement Executives Council to provide better services, CIO Council vice chairman James Flyzik said last month at the FOSE 2001 conference in Washington.

'I think Internet technology is going to physically restructure the government,' said Flyzik, CIO of the Treasury Department. 'How we will do this is by hanging out together.'

Flyzik spoke at a FOSE briefing with Paul A. Denett, vice chairman of the Procurement Executives Council, and Steven App, Treasury's deputy chief financial officer. The three said the councils have common priorities.

'We have a joint responsibility for the implementation of Section 508,' Denett said. 'We have to work together for people with disabilities to be gainfully employed.'

Working together, the councils know one another's activities and can concentrate on getting positive results, he said.
