APRIL 24'Compaq Computer Corp. will replace nearly one-third of the Social Security Administration's PCs in the next five months under a contract valued at more than $32 million, the company said.

The original agreement called for Compaq to provide 32,000 PCs. SSA exercised an option to award a follow-on blanket purchasing agreement for another 10,000 PCs.

Compaq said it will preconfigure Deskpro EN workstations with software from SSA. The units will be installed-at a rate of about 2,000 per week-in 945 SSA and state Disability Determination Service locations in the continental United States, Alaska, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
