MAY 16'The Social Security Administration has launched a Web site for women that provides information on retirement, survivor, disability and supplemental security benefits.

The Web site, Social Security Online for Women, debuted yesterday at www.ssa.gov/women/. It offers information under various categories, including working woman, beneficiary, new mother, divorced spouse, bride and widow.

'As a group, women live longer than men, earn less and rely on Social Security for most of their retirement income,' said Larry Massanari, SSA's acting commissioner. 'They need to know what the program means to them in their particular circumstances.'

The site also provides links to other congressional and agency sites, including those of the Labor Department's Women's Bureau, Health and Human Service's Women's Health and the White House's Federal Programs and Resources for Women and Families.
